After winning the 2009 Regional Concrete Canoe Competition in Carbondale, IL the Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville Concrete Canoe team traveled to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa to compete at the Nation Concrete Canoe Competition. There, with the canoe coined “Moonrock”, SIUE improved in ranking from last year’s National competition debut. Congratulations to the entire SIUE ASCE Concrete Canoe Team, and to everyone who helped them to get there.

As the 2009-2010 year has arrived the Concrete Canoe team will be starting the process all over again with the determination to keep improving. The team will be led this year by Alex Benz and Jessica Schuerman. With back to back appearances at the National level, the concrete canoe team is ready to take on new challenges, new process, and take SIUE concrete canoe to the next level. Meeting times for this year’s Concrete Canoe team will be on Mondays from 3:00-5:00pm and Tuesday from 3:30-5:30pm. If anyone is interested in more information or has any questions please e-mail us at siueconcretecanoe@gmail.com. As one final note, the captains of the concrete canoe team would like to introduce to you this year’s canoe: “Rock and Row”.
